She’s A Keeper

A Welcomed Addition To Our Home
Many have recently asked how Anastasia, the most recent addition to our family, is doing knowing that several weeks ago I tried to give her to anyone who may have wanted her. Bless her heart, she, our german shepherd / husky mix, has been so slow maturing. Potty training took much longer than expected but finally mastered; chewing I believe is over with yet her obsession to gather all the rugs in the house and place them in a pile still goes on. To be kind, she frustrated me. I hated opening the door each night when I came home from work to see what damage had been done for that day.
I’m not sure when the transformation happened, and if it happened in her or me, but she has become a beloved companion in our home. Anastasia is the most loving dog I have ever had, albeit probably the most retarded. She still does things occasionally that assure me she did not get enough oxygen at birth, but we just accept her for who she is.
Recently she was spayed and trying to keep a dog with her energy and size (she weighs in at 57 lbs. currently) was a difficult task … one we failed at. She ended up with a seroma, which is a large bump at the incision from over-activity. Finally healed and stitches removed, she romping around the house as good as new, back to playfully fighting with her sister, Bella.
I’m glad no one stepped up to take Anastasia from us. The house would be too quiet, Bella would be lonely, and Becky and I would have no one to sleep between us.

Aaawww..I LOVE the story! And you’re right about ALL the stuff you wrote!! Yep, she’s a “keeper” too:-)
“.…albeit probably the most retarded…” HAHAHA!
